What it Takes to Take a Shower Around Here
Lately, blog posts write themselves in my head as I go about my day, but the time to actually get to the computer to write them doesn't happen.
Today while taking a shower, I realized my life is totally blog-worthy and today I would take the time to write.
I take a shower everyday. I have to- my hair can be very oily and missing a day doesn't work for me. I have a schedule during the week and it works for me.
-I get up at 5:10 with the husband.
-He leaves at 5:25.
-Once he leaves I can usually go back to sleep unless the baby is up and wants to nurse.
-At 6:20, I get up and make my eldest eggs and she leaves for school at 6:40.
-6:40 I take a shower and get ready for the day. Throw a load of wash in and get ready for the kids I babysit in the morning to come.
This usually works well and everyone is asleep while I shower.
Today, I decided I needed more sleep and messed up the whole system.
After the husband left for work, I fed the baby and went back to sleep. My eldest slept in because she has been sick and I knew I only had one kid for babysitting this morning and she wouldn't be here till 7:40. I set the alarm for 7:30 and enjoyed some great sleep. When I woke up, I straightened the living room and threw a load of wash in.
I then told the kids not to wake their older sister or the baby while I took a quick shower. Big Mistake! I first was greeted with intermittent warm and then cold water due to the laundry I threw in stealing my hot water!
Next I heard-
"Mom, can I have a go-gurt?"
"Mom, I don't know how to do my math!"
Me- why do you wait till the last minute?
"Mom, I want to enter this pool poster contest for school."
Me- Wait till I get out of the shower!
"Mom- can I have another go-gurt?"
"Mom- the baby is up- can I get her out?"
Me- Of course she is up, you guys are soooo loud.
"Mom, so can I get her out?"
"Mom, I really need help with my homework."
Me- CAN EVERYONE JUST LEAVE ME ALONE SO I CAN SHOWER?
And then it hits me- these are your kids. The ones you hoped for, dreamed about and prayed for and this is your crazy life. Love it. Cue that song- "these are the best days of my life- my lifffffeeee life."
And I get out of the shower with my towel and smile at the kids and tell them I will be right there and Jack holds out his book and says, "Mom, can you sign my reading?"
"JACK! Wait till I am dressed at least!!!"
Cue music- "The best days of my life...."
And tomorrow I will take my shower early again. Lesson learned.
