Melt Your Own Valentine's Day Crayons

We are making Valentine's crayons again this year.  I think this is our 3rd year doing so.  It is pretty easy and gives you a chance to use up all your small, broken crayons.
Preheat the oven for 225 degrees.  I have been using the same silicone baking mold that I bought from Michaels with a coupon of course.
Break up your pieces and fill each heart cup up about 1/3 to 1/2 of the way.
We try to keep similar colors together, but it doesn't always work that way.
And glitter crayons make them look awesome, but those are hard to come by in our house.

Put them in the oven and let them back for about 20 minutes or so.  You will see no lumps left, just liquid.
Then take them out and cool for awhile.  Maybe around 30 minutes.  If you can put them in your fridge, that works great too.
When they are completely cooled, pop them out and your done!  If they weren't cooled enough and they get bent, don't worry- just re- cook them.

We have to make about 70 of them this year for 3 classes!  But, we are doing pretty well and hopefully will not be making them at the last minute, which we have done before!
We have made stars for Christmas time and want to try some other molds too.

Wrap them up or just use them for home.  They make great gifts and are a lot of fun.

  1. They look great! Let me know what kinds of silicone molds you need. There is a thrift store in Pittsburgh that always has them. Usually they are priced around $2 per mold though.

Hey! Thanks for dropping by- I love comments and read them all!
