Today is Monday {linky}

Sorry this is so late in the day.
My daughter was sick all last week.
And then I was sick over the weekend.
Thank God my mom came over to help me.
I hate having a fever.
So, not much going on at our house.
Just recuperating.
Happy the kids have off today.
Happy Martin Luther King Day!

Today is Monday {linky}

Good Morning!

How was your weekend!
We had a nice, calm, relaxing one.
It was great.
We had playdates lined up, but they fell through.
My son was supposed to have a friend come over on Saturday.
His mom came to the door and said he had a rash and the dr. didn't know what it was- what did I think?
I had to say no.
Felt bad but my kids spread things to each other like crazy and didn't want to chance it.
We postponed it even though my son was sad.
We just kind of hung around, played games and watched a movie.
Love days like that.
Then on Sunday after church my daughter kept telling me that she was supposed to go to her friend's house, but I told her if I didn't talk to a parent we weren't just showing up.
My mom winded up taking the 3 younger kids and of course, the friend called asking if Lauren was coming over.
Felt bad on my part- I should of texted the mom to find out if it was indeed a playdate.
I feel like my kids are always making their own "playdates".  Do your kids do that?

I made a pineapple upside down cake for the first time.
All I can say is "delish".
The husband kind of liked it, but was nice enough to inform me, he likes chocolate.  ha!
All 4 kids loved it and so did I.  It wasn't hard to do and I basically made it because I had leftover pineapple slices and cherries from our Christmas ham.  What's a girl to do?
I love going on google and typing in what kind of recipe I want and it pops up.

So, what do you have planned for this week?

Daybook Entry.... January 11, 2013

Outside my window...  dark, but not that cold.

I am thinking...  how many more days till the kids have February break?

I am thankful... for my warm home.

In the kitchen...  made a ton of banana bread and muffins because we had a ton of ripe bananas.

I am wearing...  fuzzy socks, capris I wear for bed, a pink tee and a purple pj top- Yay, matching!  (not)

I am creating... a winter wreath.

I am going...  for an ob appointment tomorrow morning- I am 22 weeks!  Woo hoo!

I am wondering...  what is for dinner?

I am reading... yet another Beverly Lewis Amish novel and starting a bible you read in a year.

I am hoping...  for a clean house by the weekend.

I am looking forward to...  the baby coming!

Around the house... it looks so bare without the Christmas decorations- I am thinking we need to paint.

I am pondering... if I can be around paint.

A favorite quote for today... "When the Lord closes a door, somewhere He opens a window."  -Maria from The Sound of Music.

One of my favorite things... italian ice, but the shop is closed for the winter!

A few plans for the rest of the week....  still have some returns, writing lists of upcoming things to do.

A peek into my day...

Do you have your own personal fireman at home?  Doesn't get much better than that.

Today is Monday {linky}

Good Morning!
How was your week?
We are having some issues getting back in the swing of things.
My son asked this morning, "why do we have to go to school everyday?"
Broke my heart.
I should just let him stay home, right? :)
We packed up the Christmas stuff and are trying to think positive about cold January.
On Saturday, we went to the home depot workshop and made some birdhouses for some indoor fun.

Not sure what the week ahead holds.
How about you?
What does your week hold?

This was my favorite advent calendar ever!
I bought it last year at Target for $5 on clearance after Christmas!
The boys were so excited when I surprised them with it before advent started.
And it was a breeze to get them out of bed in the morning before school.
Well, this imaginext calendar and the cheap chocolate advent calendars.
Don't let this little guy fool you- he was super happy to be getting a tiny piece of chocolate every morning!
And his brother?
Who he shared the chocolate calendar with?
Not interested.
More for the little guy!

I am so glad they have each other.
It is so nice to walk through the house and hear them playing together.
Ya know- getting along, playing in their own room, enjoying their own toys.
Normal stuff.
It doesn't always happen.
Especially here.
But when it does?
It is one of those precious moments when I am thankful to be a parent and to be their parent.
And even though it is a crazy time in life I am reminded it will be over in a blink of an eye.

Hello 2013!

We had a blast on New Year's Eve!
Just lounging around and being together was a great way to end the vacation.
The kids go back to school today and it is with a heavy heart that I send them.
I love having them home.
We had so much fun staying up late and waking up late and just being together.

We watched movies and everyone helped making dessert.

I made beef and cheese bread, only this time I put sausage and provolone in it.

We watched Carson Daly and Ryan Seacrest waiting for the ball to drop. And in true my family fashion- I think we were off by a number while counting.

My eldest made cake pops from a new kit she got for Christmas!

Magic Cookie Bars! We played Mastermind, Sorry, Basketball, cards and a couple other games.

And New Years poppers- apparently you are supposed to do these outside because they make a huge mess, stick to everything and are still all over our house. Live and Learn.
Can't wait till next vacation.
And welcome 2013!
I just know it is going to be a good year!
