Working on the Christmas Card...

In years past I would of already had my Christmas Card out, being delivered today or even yesterday to most of my friends and family.
But, alas, not this year.  And that is okay, because we have a plan.  We know what the kids will wear and I think we have narrowed down a location.  Getting all the kids in the same place at the same time has been an  issue.  Especially since Nana has the 3 middles at the annual Cuz Buzz this weekend!  (Big Woo Hoo)  And then is the ever pressing issue of where to order the Christmas Cards from.   And the winner is? has beautiful cards and there are quite a few I can't decide between.  They also have this awesome silhouettes that allow you to pick out different shapes for your cards.

The contenders?

The cherry merry with the awesome lace effect around the edges- love it!  Not sure about saying Be Merry- kind of wild and crazy for this conservative fam.  But, may be just what we need.

And this conversation bubble card is adorable.  Thinking about the captions I would choose.  Maybe "Hey, I am eating solids!"  for the baby or "My last year in elementary school!" for Lauren?

And this one just takes my breath away- the aquarelle.  I love the watercolor look of it, but not sure about aqua- they have a couple other colors to choose from for the background.

What do you think?  Which one should I choose?  What are you doing about Christmas cards this year?

Campus Book Rental

I was telling my oldest the other day about when she was little and how I was so stressed around this time of year.  I was going to college, had a thesis due and felt guilty for not decorating for Christmas. She of course, didn't remember.  But, I found myself feeling bad for all those going to college.  It is hard work.  And expensive.  Then I received an email reminding me of a company that wants to help college students and others.

Campus Book Rentals is a great company that:
-lets you save 40-90% off of bookstore prices
-gives you free shipping both ways
-allows you to highlight in the textbooks
-has flexible renting periods
-donates to Operation Smile with each textbook rented

And now they have a new company that allows students to rent their own textbooks!  You can earn 2-4x more money compared to what you would make through buyback options!
Rent Back helps you rent your books again and again and reach a broader group of people than if you rented on your own.

Now I realize this company might not help all of us that are not attending college, but pass it on to someone you know who might be experiencing the expensive cost of college and books!

Sometimes it is hard facing the facts.
Thank God I have a teenager and a tween to let me know and to remind me...
I am old.
Not picking out nursing home old, but I don't have instagram old.
So, I was waiting to get an iphone and while you can get an iphone pretty cheap with a plan, I just can't see paying so much extra money for a data plan.
The outcome?
I will spend a little more time with my "dumb" phone instead of getting a "smart" phone.  Afterall, I am home and really don't need a phone with internet.  Do I?
So, I figured no instagram for me.
Then I was looking for interesting ways to punish my kids.  (Yes, this is a long story of how I got instagram)  I started taking Jack's ipod away.  It was working!  He started behaving to make sure he could earn it back.  Then it dawned on me- I can use instagram on his ipod!  Since he had lost it for a whole week, I changed his password and downloaded instagram!!!
Now the problem is when he gets it back.
Am I a little too eager to punish him?
In the meantime, I have been enjoying instagram.  Are you on?  Follow me here.

Life Today

I am here.
Around, just really busy.
I have suddenly found myself in a different season of life.
Obviously still here with young kids, but there was a time when I went to a friends house or had some ladies here, but very rarely now.
I am quiet, which is kind of a funny thing to say if you knew me in real life and those of you who do, probably get it.
I take care of the kids, the baby, babysit and when the kids leave the house for school in the morning, I clean, plan meals, food shop and wait for phone calls from the school for my little guy having a rough time with kindergarten- a whole other story for a different day.

Our little girl is 5 months and she:
  • rolls over
  • giggles
  • is just under 16 pounds
  • loves her siblings

And of course, we adore her.  She hasn't had any "real" food yet.  Just nursing.  and nursing.  and some more nursing.  But, that is okay.  Even when it is 2 in the morning and then sometimes again at 4, it will stop all too soon.  My babies will be done.
And sometimes that is a tough thing to swallow.  It is hard to think about when it is just her and me late at night.  But, when it is all of us around the kitchen table and it is crazy, 5 seems like more than enough.
Who knows what God has in store?
Maybe foster kids that need a good home when all my kids are grown?
And one day the biggest blessing- grandchildren.

But, I digress...

In the meantime, I am where I need to be.  And I am so thankful to be home, to take care of these kids.  And to keep working on being a good parent to them.

And since I started this post weeks ago and the baby is now almost 6 months, I will press the publish button.  Another blogger I read wrote, "The more kids I have, the less I blog."
I am so there.

Today is Monday {linky}

Well, this weekend was low-key. Love it!
We went to the free home depot kids workshop Saturday morning and then off to the library because the 3 middle kids needed books that were on their level and Jack has a book report coming up.  Ahhh, book reports- school is definitely in full swing.

We spent Saturday with the husband's parents, which was really nice.
All in all, we are doing pretty great.
Plans for this week?
Cleaning!  It is great to be home on the weekend, but it seems like it will take all day today to undo what we did over the weekend!
Hey, I am happy to be home to be able to clean up.

What do you have going on at your place this week?

Daybook Entry... October 2, 2013

Outside my window...  sunny.

I am thinking... I love this weather we have been having- nice and warm.

I am thankful...  for the husband.

In the kitchen...  sausage and peppers for dinner.

I am wearing... black capris and my "My Husband Rocks!" tee shirt.

I am creating... paper crafts with my cricut (hopefully).

I am going...  no where and I like it!

I am wondering...  why these kids insist on testing me!

I am reading...  the Bible.

I am hoping...  to make some serious cash on ebay.

I am looking forward to...  Thanksgiving and all things fall.

I am learning...  to have more patience and to be a better wife.

Around the house...  organizing and getting ready to set up crib.

I am pondering...  what to do first day- phone calls or cleaning?

A favorite quote for today...  "And we know all things work together for good to them that love God, to them that are the called according to his purpose."  Romans 8:28

One of my favorite things...  Swagbucks!  I have earned free giftcards for by using swagbucks as a search engine and referring them to other people.  Sign up here to give it a try.  I have earned quite a few giftcards.  Very handy when Christmas is around the corner and all you have to do is use their search engine.  I take a little break from google and get free stuff.  It is a no-brainer.

A few plans for the rest of the week:  organizing, more coupon cutting, ebay listing- hope to list 20 items by the end of the week.

A peek into my day...
I am linking up here!

Today is Monday {linky}

Good Morning!
It has been a great week, can't believe it is Monday already!
I am starting to slowly do some more work to my blog, which includes a better profile picture that my daughter took of me.  Click on it on my sidebar to read my updated "about me" page.  More to come...

At church on Sunday, Brian was asked to help with collecting money for missions by dressing up as a clown at the last minute!  He loved it.  Although he had done it before, this was the first time without one of his siblings.  Such a ham!

And for this week?
Food shopping- trying to cut some coupons- I will report back on that!
And a certain adorable little miss needs her crib set up- she is about 16 pounds and getting too big for her bassinet.  This means some serious purging and cleaning to make room for her crib.
What about you?
What do you have planned for the week?

It doesn't hurt that one is ran by a close friend of and the other is ran by my cousins!

First up: Operation Bounce!  Ran by my girlfriend, her hubby and some close friends, this bounce rental company is unique because they are a military veteran owned and operated company.

They have the best in commercial grade bouncers and have a number of different options.  My favorite?  The large princess slide combo!  It can fit up to 8 kids at a time!

Next business I love is Personalized Pillow Cases!  My cousins run this business, one handling the business side of things, while the other makes the cases.  She has made cases for all the kids and I love them.  We know instantly whose pillowcase is whose and they wash well too!

This is a pillowcase my cousin made for me that I sleep on every night.  Her work is amazing and all done by hand!

And it got me to thinking - Christmas is coming- these cases make great gifts.  Order one today and save 10% with the code, thechattymommy.

San Diego

It still seems like a dream that we went to San Diego. Our aunt mentioned a year or two ago that when she retired she would like to take us all to San Diego!  Our uncle and aunt live there and it is just beautiful.  And before you know it, August came and the long awaited trip actually happened!
Below is just a small sample of some of the pictures we took while we were there.  It was an amazing trip and seems like a dream that we went!  Thanks so much Aunt S!

Our oldest and youngest at our uncle and aunt's house.

The kids in front of the hotel waiting to go somewhere fun!  We did a lot of walking in downtown San Diego!

Our hotel front and center! The Embassy Suites was amazing! We stayed in the presidential suite and it was spectacular with a few of the water and the city from our balcony!

All the kids (except for baby Char, of course) went rock climbing, though we don't seem to have a picture of Em.  This is Lauren about to get to the top, which she did and repelled down!

The little guy did pretty well.

And Jack almost made it!

And one of the best blessings of the trip is we got to see my brother (that's him rock climbing with the kids cuz he rocks!  tee hee hee) and

my sister in law who is the best because we love her and she loves our kids and helps too!  She is so sweet and the baby loves her.
We also saw one of my husbands close friends and his family!

Legoland- amazing all the things you can build from legos!  Miniland was our favorite part of the park!

And these 2 snorkeled of the shores of La Jolla for leopard sharks!

We all just had a wonderful trip- sorry I keep saying it- it was just that much fun!

Things I Sold On Ebay

I have been selling some things on ebay- I hope to list more this week.  Like my cousin, I figured I would show what I have been selling.

Conditioner.  These are from Loreal hair dye.  My aunt gives them to me when she dyes her hair because she doesn't use them  They went for $20.

Box tops for education will usually get me about 10 cents per box top.  I sold this group of 100 for about $10.

Onesies 0-3months the baby grew out of- $6.

A maternity shirt I loved but only wore a few times at the end of my pregnancy- $8.

A nutrisystem portion control plate I never used.  $12

A stamp set from 1973 that my uncle had given me.  I didn't do enough research on this one, but on a whim put it up for $40 and I got it.  Wondering if I should've went higher or kept it, but it was just collecting dust.

What about you?
Have you sold anything on ebay recently?
Have you ever made a huge profit on something that you resold?
I love hearing about great sales!
