Today Is Monday {Monday Linky}


How was your weekend?
We had a great weekend!
My sister turned 16!!
Yes, my one and only sister is 16.
So, we had a nice family party at my Dad's house.


And the kids had games and practice and all that fun stuff.
And I worked.
And last night we got root beer floats from Mister Softee (ice cream truck that passes by the house at night for all you people who don't have one)- they were divine!


And I have a ton of "projects" to do this week- won't even name them now- I'll let you know at the end of the week what gets done.

Our menu:
Monday- spaghetti and meatballs (a favorite around here)
Tuesday- Chicken cutlets and potato salad?
Wednesday- quiche - (daughter's first track meet and church so we need something quick)
Thursday-baked ziti
Friday- leftover ziti (we'll see if that goes over- we don't do many leftovers.)
Saturday- steak on the grill
Sunday- burgers and hotdogs on the grill

I need to find some new pasta salad recipes and cold dishes to eat with all our BBQ stuff this summer!

Don't Wait Till Your Hungry- A Nutrisystem Update

So, hypothetically speaking, of course. If you are hungry and coming home from work and your husband bought you a half hero from your favorite hero shop, what would you do?

If you answered A.- scarf it done standing up- you are like most women in America.

And, that is just what I did.

And then put myself in a downward spiral. And the reason why?

.
I was hungry!
I have been doing so well. And though I didn't weigh myself, I could feel it. My stomach seemed flatter and a couple of people told me it looked like I was losing weight. The lady behind me in step class said it and she would know, I mean, she is behind me in step class!
 

I was working the Nutrisystem program and things were moving well.
But, I let myself be hungry- when it is late and I am hungry, I don't think about making food, I just go for the closest thing. Which happened to be a delicious hero.
 

And then I had some women over and someone bought a bagel that had asiago cheese on top- yes please! And then someone bought the best pasta salad ever! And it was a carb fest after that.
 

But, no more. I don't like the way I feel strung out on carbs- no energy and I have a lot to do this weekend. 

So, back on the saddle and no looking back.

Today Is Monday! {Monday Link-Up}

Well, we had a busy weekend!
It was our opening day for tee ball and softball.
This means getting up early (a certain tween was not thrilled) and getting to the fields by 8:30am for our opening day parade.
The kids did great and seemed to really enjoy themselves.
After the parade, they each had a game. So the husband helped out with our son's tee ball team and I watched my daughter's softball game.
From what the husband said, our son is starting to be a great hitter.
I think he is starting to understand the game better. This is nice since this is the second year the kids are playing.
Our daughter is becoming quite the slugger as well. I enjoyed her game as much as I would an adult game. The girls are all really good.
While at the fields, we spotted this little guy. I am thinking it is a plover? If you know, please correct me.
She was guarding 3 huge eggs. Someone put the fence around her to protect her and her babies. I know that plover are endangered. So sweet. Too bad all the kids kept running over to her to check her out. Mine included. 
After the games, we went to Applebee's for lunch- this was nice - other than the kids driving us crazy! Boy- do we need a date night!?!?!? I brought my younger daughter to a birthday party after church on Sunday with some friends and we tried to clean out part of the basement. And organize and all that fun stuff that we try to do. 
 Menu for the week: (warning - looks like duplicates from last week- it's not- just switched around last week)
 Monday- peppersteak and rice 
Tuesday- big salad and grilled chicken 
Wednesday- ribs! 
Thursday- Hotdogs 
Friday- barbeque- cheddarwurst and burgers 
Saturday- Out at my sister's birthday! 
Sunday- baked ziti

yes- it's the Nutrisystem Update!


So, this week I wasn't able to go to the gym as much.
Had a sick kid for a couple of days and then had some things I had to take care of.
But, being home more gave me the time to tweak what I was eating.
I am working especially hard on not eating any added carbs.
I stick to what is in the Nutrisystem food and only add extra proteins and veggies.
This has been working well and I feel less bloated.
Goodbye "bread belly".

And duh- it is exactly what I have been reading in my Nutrisystem paperwork!

So now, no more bread, extra tortillas or handfuls of goldfish and animal crackers when I hand them out to the kids.
Sometimes it is harder than others.
Like when my daughter made cherry turnovers by herself and was eager for me to try them.
Ok, so I had one or two.
But, I have been doing well and plan on keeping it up.

This is usually what I eat for lunch. A nice, big salad with Nutrisystem Red beans, chicken sausage and rice. Delish! This day I also added some grilled chicken.
This is one of my favorite meals and I like knowing that I am going to have it for lunch.
If I need a snack, I grab a cheese stick or some walnuts. I am thinking about adding some hard boiled eggs into the mix, here and there.
My last bootcamp workout today- hello pain!

Is it Wednesday Already?

So, I am not gonna lie...
A little sad that no one linked up for my Monday linky, but I guess these things take time.
The week has been BUSY to say the least!
Slap a ball shaped magnet on the back of my mini-van and call me a soccer mom!
There is no denying it now!

It is hard to keep up with the schedules.
I have one in soccer and softball, one in tee ball and one on the track team!
Kind of happy the little guy said he wasn't ready to join yet.

Speaking of the little guy, he got shots at his check-up the other day to get ready for pre-school next year.
He didn't flinch.
I wanted to take a picture of him with his band-aids. He wasn't feelin' it so I took these quick pics while he was lying in my bed. He is so proud- he won't take the band-aids off. He just showers and lets them dry.


He has been wearing this knicks jersey all. the. time. Someone handed it down to him.

P.S.- Don't tell him Stephon Marbury is not even on the knicks anymore, mmkay?



So, this week I asked the husband to tell me exactly what he wanted for dinners this week. And boy, did he tell me.

Monday- Cheeseburgers
Tuesday-Grilled chicken with a big salad and pasta salad (that one was my idea)
Wednesday-Beef and bean burritos
Thursday-cheddarwurst?
Friday-peppersteak and rice
Saturday-hotdogs- I think I am supposed to cut them lengthwise and fry them in butter and put them on a roll. WOW!!!
Sunday- Steak on the grill

So, if we don't die of nitrates in the mean time, I will post my menu earlier next week!

Today Is Monday!

Good Morning!
Week 2 starts today for Today is Monday.

This week for us:
Well visit for the little guy who is getting geared up for pre-school next year.
He spent last night practicing writing his name in case the doctor asks.

Some of the kids have assessment tests, so major pressure to make sure they eat well and get to bed early. That get to bed early thing has been getting rough because of the beautiful weather we have been having.

I need to get into the basement to see what shorts and tees the kids have or it is off to the store to stock up.
After all those years of claiming and extra kid won't be expensive to the husband.... yep- 4 kids are expensive. wink.

A little sad sending the kids back to school today- loved having them off. I can't wait till summer vacation. How 'bout you?

Might have to head to Old Navy today- I have some kind of Old Navy coupon that expires tomorrow- to the outlets I go!

Spring cleaning and some painting are in order for this beautiful weather.

And later tonight I will post the weekly menu- you will be proud of us- We actually had breakfast for dinner last night instead of buying take-out.

The husband made some delicious pancakes.
I forget that he knows how to cook. wink.

Inspiration: Style- The Younger Years

When I read what the inspiration link would be on Gussy Sews for today, I thought forget it.
I don't have style.
I am a mom who is always trying to lose weight and refuses to buy new jeans until said weight is gone.
What can I offer?
I instantly remembered when I was younger...

One of the first times we went skiing. Now this was a cool outfit. I was 12 and I was totally rocking that headband.
I was never that good at skiing- it is a serious amount of work, but I would love to take the kids so they can try it out!


Age 13- on a vacation in Vermont with my family and my cousin's family. I loved wearing big tank tops over those bandeau tops that seem to be back in style. Though my mom got upset if I let the tank slip on my shoulder.

We actually met Kirk Cameron and his brand new bride, Chelsea Noble on this trip! They were on their "secret locale" honeymoon and we happened to be in Vermont at the same time! This was a big thrill for us and we went home and watched Growing Pains. Someone has a picture of us meeting him, but I am not sure where it is.

Polka Dots! Always my favorite- still is. This was my 9th grade graduation dress and yes- that is a corded phone! Maybe you can show your kids- they have probably never seen one!

Senior year- upstate camping! Short hair! I cut it up to my chin. I was so confident and thought I was so cool constantly putting my hair behind my ears! Maybe I could of bought my tee shirt in a smaller size? Those were the years before Aeropostale only sold fitted tees for women!

What about you? Were you totally style savvy when you were young, but somehow lost your way?

What Has Been Working- A Nutrisystem Update

Well, I know I am not the fastest person, both physically and mentally.
But why do I always resist using the paperwork?
While unpacking my new Nutrisystem order, I really looked at the journal and Resource guide that they sent me.
I had looked at them before, but this time it clicked.
Why don't I use these?

It was easy.
I wrote the date on the top of the page and just checked as I went along.
Definite accountability because it was on the page starring back at me.
When I finished my water, check.
When I ate the veggies I need to, check.
When I put some bacos on my salad, write it down.
So, I will stick to this journal and see how it goes.

And at the gym, I was weighed and measured a month ago by the manager there.
And the other day she measured me again- I lost some inches! Woo Hoo!
I do weigh myself more like every week or every other week.

I am another pound less- a pound equals 4 whole sticks of butter.
I am 4 whole sticks of butter less than I was last week.
Another woo hoo!

Easter Day

Well, let me tell you first that the kids had an egg hunt at my mom's house while they were at the cuz buzz. My aunt hid the eggs the night before and in the morning my mom had the kids bundle up and get ready for the hunt.
Imagine their surprise when they went outside and all 70 eggs and been "broken" into and there were chocolate wrappers all over the yard.
Apparently, squirrels like chocolate. My mom and I found this hysterical and the kids were pretty much shocked.
So my oldest decided to do another hunt on Easter with candy we had around the house.

The kids just continued to keep hiding the eggs and finding them.

This could literally go on for hours.

We had a low key Easter day, but it was great. Spiral ham, beans, homemade macaroni and cheese and cherry cobbler for dessert.

All of us after church. It was a wonderful day.
