Today is Monday! {linky}

Good Morning from Long Island where we are anticipating Hurricane Sandy!
We had a nice week last week.
Field Hockey games are winding down.
And we went to the fall fair at the kids old school where someone won a serious amount of candy corn!

This smart girl was able to guess that there were 407 candy corn in the container she is holding.
Two years ago, she won 920 skittles!
I can't believe how much she has grown in those 2 years!
::sniff, sniff, tear, tear::

And what the bread shelves look like at the stores.  Anyone got any white bread?
We plan on staying in our home unless it gets real bad.
Our electric company called last week to let us know if we lost power, expect it to be 7 to 10 days!

And so are the days of our lives....
How are you doing on this fine Monday?

The Cookie Business

Well, the cookie business I never intended to start was keeping me pretty busy for awhile, but has started to slow down.
It is fun, but a lot of work, especially when you are a procrastinator like myself!
Big thanks to my girlfriend, Tiffany, who drew out the playing card cookies, after I realized she could pipe some serious icing!
She made the teeth cookies up top, and if you look close you can even see a "Tim Tebow" tooth cookie up top!

Today is Monday {linky}

Good Morning!
And yes, you heard correctly- today is Monday!
This basically means everyone has a hard time getting up in the morning at our house.
And I forget everything I am supposed to do- like making lunches and getting things ready- you would think it was the first day of school all over again.

Apparently, Saturday and Sunday throw us off that much!

Anytime, you take a picture- this guy wants his picture taken too.  Here he is holding a playdoh mold.  Notice the too small doggy pajamas.  I have put them in the giveaway pile and he always pulls them out.  He loves them.  I think they are a 3T and he is in 4T- not too bad I guess- what's one more year?

I made some card cookies with the help of a good friend.  I am slowly getting all cookie'd out.

My middle daughter had a friend over that was visiting from out of state and they made play-doh hair-dos for the littlest pet shop figures.  They have done this since they were little and it seems to be their favorite thing to do.

I went to a Victorian tea with the church ladies and my BFF and I won this awesome gift basket!  I am super competitive and love to win things.
My favorite parts- the beautiful purple flower hair bow that my daughter wears now and the pink and orange basket everything is in - we use it for littlest pet shop now!

How about you?
How is your Monday going?

Pumpkin Picking

Some of our plans felt through and my mother in law had a spur of the moment idea to go pumpkin picking.
The kids were thrilled and we went to a local place that the husband wanted to go to last year, but someone (wonder who) insisted we go out east and we completely overpaid for bad pumpkins.

 But, not this year!

The kids had a great time and guess what?  Not everything cost money!

They played on haystacks and dive-bombed off.  There was a castle and swings and animals.

There was plenty of pumpkins, all shapes and sizes and plenty of stuff to see along the way.

And a hay tent?  Thought this might be a good shot for the Christmas pic this year, but alas, not feeling it!

Watch out for the smooshed ones!

We did a lot of walking.

And the little guy couldn't believe we would limit him to just one pumpkin.
But, he got over it.

We had a great day!  What about you?  Are you going pumpkin picking or did you already go?

Mom of the Year

and the award goes to .......
wait for it.....

Yep, that's right!
Mom of the Year!

(and I say that with as much sarcasm as possible)

I brought the little guy to the dentist.
He is really great there.
He actually loves to go.
But, he had cavities!
I felt so bad.
I am terrible at brushing the kids teeth myself instead of just telling them to do it.

And viola!

And my dentist, who is the best in the world, was nice enough to say it is more diet related than it is brushing related.
Almost made me feel better, but then I guess it is not good if I am feeding him poorly either.
Turns out small meals all day, just constantly has the little guy in contact with sugar- whether it be sugar or carbs that turn into it.

So, yeah feeling bad about that.

But, the best Mom of the Year incident happened over the summer....

I went to a orientation meeting for the little guy's pre-school.
It was a short meeting, about 40 parents packed into a classroom and sat on mini-chairs while the teachers told us a bunch of stuff that was already in the paperwork we received 6 times.
But, I sat and listened.
This being our first kid ever going to pre-school, I had a question.

The time came and I asked, "When I drop off my son, do I have to bring the other kids in or can I leave them in the car?"

To me, this meant, do I have to walk him far into the school and sign him in with my middle kids in tow (oldest is already at school at this point) or can I leave the middles in the car which I will be able to see them the whole time while I run him to the door where a nice teacher takes him?

The reply I received.....
"Never, ever leave your kids in the car unattended!!!!"
and then for good measure she added,
"Make sure they are also in proper child restraint seats as well.  We will have to report you if they are not."

So, about this time, I proceed to sink into my mini-chair (as much as a mom can) and pray to disappear.

My girlfriend sitting next to me laughs and whispers to me, "She doesn't know you have 4 kids and know what is going on - she didn't understand your question and now all the parents are looking at you!!
And then she laughed some more.

Good impression on my kid's teachers?
Maybe not.

Mom of the Year?
Oh, Yeah!

Today is Monday {linky}

Today is Monday is back!
How was your week?
We have been busy.
Sports are starting to die down a little which is nice.

And I hate to say it, but Christmas is in 77 days!!!
AHHHH (insert picture of me with my hands on my face like Macaulay Culkin in Home Alone)

So, new plan- sell everything I can on ebay to make Christmas money!!!
I will keep you posted on how it goes.

The little guy isn't feeling well, but seems to be a quick thing.

And special message to all my friends that are reading this: I got my haircut last week and got six inches cut off and you haven't noticed!!! LOL
No big deal because they told me at work it just doesn't look that different.
I cut it because I kept leaving the house with it all messy because I have no time to do it.
The new do?
A lot easier to blow-dry! And I might even use a straightener! ::GASP::

For this week?
Cookie order- really need to get some fall decorations up and the kids need warm clothes up from the basement.
I am thinking a lot of organization!

How about you?
What do you have going on this week?

Daybook Entry- October 5, 2012

Outside my window...  dark and quiet

I am thinking...
when is the last time I blogged?

I am thankful...
for the 3 day weekend we are about to have- the kids need a break from school.

In the kitchen...
overeasy eggs for breakfast, maybe ziti for dinner?

I am wearing...
  tee shirt and shorts.

I am creating...
in my head how we will decorate for fall.

I am going...
  no where special- work tomorrow.

I am wondering...
when I should start my Christmas shopping.

I am reading...
  Emma by Jane Austen

I am hoping...
to get some things listed on ebay today.

I am looking forward to...
movie night tonight with my middle daughter.

I am learning...
to not worry so much.

Around the house...
really need to organize the basement and get rid of stuff!  I feel like I am always saying that.

One of my favorite things...
a picture of handprints the little guy just made in pre-school with a little poem about how fast kids grow.  so precious.

A few plans for the rest of the week:
helping a friend with her blog, getting ready for a cookie order and making sure all the kids have jeans for the cold weather about to hit.  Some of us are still wearing shorts.

A birthday party with some friends for this guy mid-week while we had off from school for Yom Kippur.

I am linking up here.
