Update: I am still here!

I know I have been so neglectful of this blog, this summer!
I have big plans for fall though.
Especially with all of my kids going to school this year!
I would say Yay!
But, I am kinda sad... Summer went so fast, I am not ready to see them go.
How 'bout you?
The little guy is only going to be gone for 2.5 hours in the morning though, so we will have plenty of time together.
All the kids are involved in fall sports this year, so that will be a first. And maybe a little crazy.

Just some things from recently.
More cookie orders.
Someone had their first sleepover party with 12 girls in our small, but cozy living room to celebrate her upcoming "teen" birthday.

And some card castles- cuz who doesn't love a good castle.

I read this article the other day and loved it.  Though, I think I may be a "porcupine wife".

And I am taking sponsors for September- click here for super cheap rates.

And don't forget this giveaway- anyone can enter.

Have a great day- we are off to the beach!

Today Is Monday! {linky}

Last week, we went bowling!  It was a rainy day and the perfect thing to do.
And then the kids went to a cuz buzz at their Nana's house.

7 kids including a best friend and Nana.
They slept in a tent, played play-doh, went in the kiddie pool, made stepping stones, toasted marshmallows and a ton of other things....
They had an amazing time!
And I had an awesome time off.
Thanks Mom!

And for this week?
And some back to school shopping!
Special thanks to my MIL for giving the kids back-to-school-shopping-money!

What about you?
What is going on in your neck of the woods?

So many thoughts lately.

So, today, no pictures, just thoughts.

-I have been meaning to share- Do you have the Target debit card?
Let me tell you- it rocks!
When you check out, you give them a blank check, they sign you up and viola!
You have a target debit card that gives you 5% off all your purchases and you can buy anything online and it ships for free. This is my favorite part because I always seem to want a $10 shirt that would cost $6 to ship.
The card takes the money right from my checking account, which is how I shop anyway.
I love it.

-Jack has been wanting a certain backpack. This kid has style.
And apparently, character backpacks are a thing of the past.
I went to order this special bag on ebay for a lot of money and decided to wait.
Went to Marshalls the next day and found the backpack for half the price!
Yay, Marshalls!

-Totally want to start school supply shopping- big shout out to my mom- the nana- who gave each child a big target giftcard for school supplies and other needed back to school items.
So as not to overspend, I am waiting till the kids get their school lists from their teachers.

And we are re-using last year's scissors and whatever else we have on hand.
Trying hard to be frugal this year, when all I want to do is buy the 96 count crayons, expensive character notebooks and things that are not on the list.

 Feel like that sometimes?

-The kids are going to Nana's house for a cuz buzz (sleepover with their cousins and a friend) and I am unsure of what to do first.

-Finally got to the gym once this summer- might try that again!  And looking forward to going when the kids start school on a regular basis.

But, completely sad that they have to go back.
Summer is too short.

How are you feeling about back to school?

Today is Monday {linky}

Well, somehow it is Monday again...
I can't believe how the weeks are flying by this summer.
But, I am sure I say that every summer.

My middle decided she wants to earn some money to get a doll she wants...
Ya know, one of those Anne Geddes dolls that has an animal costume on.
Her girlfriend has a butterfly one and she loves it.
So, we looked one up on ebay and it was $35.
So, she wants to earn $35, hence, the wipey board with no idea yet.

I sold these on ebay the other day. My aunt gave them to me.
I made about $15 from the 6 tubes.
Thanks Aunt Susie!

Eldest daughter working on this project.
Love it!

And yes, this little guy is still doing a whole lot of this.
We are hoping to hit the beach and a cuz buzz at Nana's house.

What 'bout you?
What do you have going on?

Happy Monday!

35 by 35

Just for fun and maybe for some organization, I have decided to compile a list of 35 things I want to do by the time I turn 35 in July 2013.

(In no particular order or importance)

1. Not color my hair until I am 35, though the greys keep a'comin.

2. Read 12 new books.

3. Pay off 3 debts.

4. Call my grandmothers at least once a week each.

5. Lose 50 pounds.

6. Read through the bible.

7. Have 500 sales on ebay.

8. Write something and be published.

9. Have a more cohesive plan for working in the future.

10. Write a budget.

11. Stick to a budget.

12. Clear out the basement.

13. Give at least 35 bags of "stuff" away.

14. Pick a children's devotional book and read it cover to cover with the kids.

15. Make a computer schedule and stick to it.

16. Paint at least 2 rooms in the house.

17. Stain the kids' clubhouse.

18. Read more about the Presidential election and blog about it at least twice.

19. Spend more time with my sister.

20. Spend one day with both my female cousins that are close to my age.

21. Use my treadmill at least 3 times a week.

22. Have alone time with just my mom at least 4 times.

23. Go to a movie with my mil and my aunt.

24. Write a master list for how to best do Christmas and put in a reference binder to use year after year.

25. Do something with kids that teaches them about giving.

26. Make at least 2 projects on my sewing machine.

27. Make the younger daughter at least 5 headbands.

28. Make a care package for someone in the military.

29. Go away even for one night with just the husband.

30. Ice skate or ski with the kids.

31. Watch "The Sound of Music" with the kids.

32. Make something homemade/handmade and sell it.

33. Make a cake with fondant.

34. Have a lemonade stand with the kids.

35. Do a WIWW (What I Wore Wednesday) blog post where I document what I wore for the week with pictures.

I will check off as I go along and accomplish some of these things, but I think the list is doable. post signature

My B-day

So, at the end of July, it was my birthday!
I had an awesome day and scored some amazing presents....
and saw my family.
It was wonderful.
The husband surprised me and bought me a pandora bracelet!  I was and still am very excited!

The kids, my family and wonderful friends gave me all different, amazing things! And in the back you can see the beautiful flowers the younger 3 kids bought for me at dollar tree with their own money while I was with them!  Priceless!

My dad had a birthday party for me - mainly because my grandmother was out from Florida and my brother and my SIL were out from California, but I had a great time just the same.
So thankful to be with my Abuela, who will turn 89 this fall! She is still sharp- I love her.
And, if you are wondering I turned 34! I remember thinking 34 year olds were soooo old and now I am 34 and feel like I am still in my 20s.

Stay tuned for tomorrow for a list of 35 things I want to do before I am 35!

Today is Monday {linky}

So, sorry I missed last week's today is Monday.
We were in Davis Park.

We have been at the beach a lot.

And I made some more cookies!
This time, gerber daisy flowers for a close friend's bridal shower.

Making the cookies was fun, but a night out with friends at the bridal shower was great!
Being a mom, you sometimes forget it is nice to go out without the kids.

(but, sshhhh, don't tell the kids)

In case you missed it, we went to a Yankees game.

And a beautiful blog friend passed away to be with the Lord.

And, on another note, I participated in a thrifty gift exchange, where you get paired with a fellow blogger and you spend $10 on each other at a thrift store.

Cuz, who doesn't love thrifting?

I was paired with Kelly and she got me the coolest stuff.

First, a necklace that she made- cuz she makes stuff- isn't it beautiful?

And look at the rest of this loot!
A bracelet in purple- I love purple!
A beautiful flower pin,
an adorable card....

and this amazing purse with beautiful fabric.  I was so excited to get this package and open it.  The purse was the first thing I spotted.
Love it!
Thanks Kelly- you rock!

You can check out other thrifty exchanges here:

a punk, a pumpkin and a peanut

a Tribute to Cathy

When I first started blogging, I met some fast friends and put them in my sidebar.
Some women I could and can relate to and I enjoy reading their blogs.
One of those women was Cathy.
Cathy was a mom of 5 beautiful kids and a husband that she really adored.
I gladly read all of her posts.

A couple of days ago I read a blog post from Cathy's eldest child, her son James.
Cathy passed away from a battle with cancer.
This was and is of course, very sad.

But... to read James' post was simply beautiful.
And it just reinstated what I believe- Cathy is with the Lord. There is nothing better on earth than that.

And he echoed what many of us had already known- Cathy was an amazing wife and mother.
Thank you Cathy, for the encouraging words and helpful heart.
You have touched so many... even this mom on the other side of the continent through blogging.

Go Yankees!

We took the kids to their first Yankees game!
And it was a huge success!

What is better than McDonalds in the car?  ( ok- a lot is better than McDonalds in the car- but go with me here)

It was about 1.5 hours with traffic.  The kids asked a hundred times when we would get there, but they were pretty good.

Someone had given us tickets to go (thank you so much Someone!) and everyone was looking forward to it for a long time.

We weren't sure how the kids would do, but they loved it!

Cotton candy rocks!

And so do cracker jacks, popcorn and pretzels.

And I thought it was good to go to one game.  Ya know, so they can say they have been to one.
And figured when the boys get older, the husband can take them again, but I am thinking they want to go back.

And the Yankees won 6-3 over the Mariners.   It was a great signature
