Mon-Day

Hello!
Good Afternoon!

I had a great weekend- how about you?
We went to my cousin's middle school play. It was Beauty and the Beast Jr.
It was spectacular and my girls loved it.
That is high praise coming from a mama that doesn't like plays.
The boys slept at my mom's so we were able to go.

And yesterday we spent time with my family at my little cousin's birthday.
It was a lot of fun.

Except...
Dealing with things with my girls.
My middle daughter signed up for both soccer and softball.
She had her first soccer practice and hated it.
She doesn't want to do it anymore.
I can't decide if I should let her quit.
As of now, I told her we will keep trying.

I'll let you know how it goes.

And the older one- my tween soon to be a teen.
She is great and I love her.
But, I am tired of rules.
Everything she wants to do, because "someone else has done it".
And I feel like I am always saying no.

I feel like saying, "Knock your socks off- whatever works"!

Anyone feel the same?

And unrelated to my kids- but on my mind this weekend.
The Hunger Games.

I just don't get it.
I have been told what the storyline is about.
I don't know why anyone is interested.
It sounds downright scary.
I mean I already cry over kids starving and kids without parents and parents who can't afford to feed their kids.

Now, I am supposed to scare myself silly for something that is not even true?
I'll pass.

But...
I am trying to be understanding because so many of my friends have let their kids read the books and see the movie.

I just feel like it is up there with the Twilight series and Harry Potter. Useless.
But then again, you are talking to someone who doesn't like the Hobbit.

And I ask you- What is wrong with The Babysitter's Club?
Those were some good books!

My friend Karen gave this link to a blog with an interesting post.
Check it out if you get the chance.

And the menu for the week:

Monday- english muffin pizzas and mini tacos
Tuesday- quiche
Wednesday- Ravioli in meat and sausage sauce
Thursday- steak and chicken on grill
Friday- Meatballs and angel hair
Saturday- Burgers and french fries
Sunday- not too sure- maybe homemade mac and cheese

It's gonna be a great week- I can feel it!

  1. My husband read The Hunger Games books and so did a very close friend of mine. I think they'd both agree that it's better suited for an older teen, I wouldn't let my young child/middle schooler read it. But the movie was really good, the story was intense, and I understand that it seems crazy. But in context, it makes since why they are doing it. It's like we can't understand why the Roman's killed each other for sport, and in this society (in the books/movies) for some reason people think it's ok. Josh gave me a preview for the next book/movie...there is a rebellion to the games...if that makes you feel better! ;)
