Nutrisystem.... Not Weighing in and it has nothing to do with the hotdog I ate at the harvest party...

I decided this weekend that I wasn't going to weigh in today.
I have really been enjoying the classes I have been taking at the gym. I know I sound like a broken record, but I am surprised how much I enjoy it.
But, I have been noticing that I if I am going to splurge, I usually do it on the weekend and weighing in on Monday never seems like a good thing.
So, I think I will weigh in on Friday, post and go weekly from there.

What do you think?

In the meantime, I am loving the Nutrisystem frozen choices. I love all the egg meals for breakfast and for lunch, still with old faithful, red beans and chicken sausage with rice.

The water bottle they sent me is a big part of my day- it is so easy to watch how much water I drink. I need to drink 2 a day (the bottle holds 32 oz.) and I almost drink a full one during class! The 2nd one is easy after that.

As for the rest of the week- sticking to the plan- Nutrisystem and healthy food choices.

Maybe I'll hit the treadmill?

We'll see.

Friday Follow With The Chatty Mommy...

How was your week?
Mine was good considering it seems like everyone is getting ready for the useless holiday. Have I mentioned that I love November 1st?

Well, aside from all that, I have been going to the gym for the classes every morning and I really enjoy it.
I am not the most coordinated gal, but I'll get there.
I am excited to start Christmas preparations, but there are a ton of things I need to get on top of before I even start thinking about Christmas.
We just have so much stuff in this house.
I really need to purge and just let it go.

One step at a time...

Mommy Fail

My girlfriend had this picture on her facebook and I had to share- I think I might even have that shirt!

It seems like lately I am falling short.
Ever have that happen?

Take for example, the other day I sent my son off to school, happy to bring his trophy to school for show and tell. His first show and tell of the year.
After the bus picked him up, I was cleaning off my kitchen table when I saw his weekly letter from the teacher and clear as day, what did it say?
Please go over with your child what they will speak about with their show and tell item.
Mommy Fail!
I felt terrible- I had already felt bad enough that we didn't get to go over his spelling words one more time, but now I have to practice what he will say about a show and tell item?
I tried to make myself feel better- he's a little talker- you know, the politician type, so I am sure it went fine.
But, it is totally unlike me to forget something like that.

And how about picture day?
Promised my daughter that I would curl her hair.
Somewhere between putting my oldest on the bus and getting the middles ready, I think I have all this time.
Yeah, not so much.
We usually wind up rushing towards the last 5 minutes before the bus comes. Thankfully, it pulls right in front of the house.
But, her hair?
Didn't get to curl it.
She wanted pigtails with a pretty headband which I did and she looked beautiful and she was happy.
But still felt like a mommy fail.

And did I tell you about my first PTO activity?
Well, I really want to be involved with the kids at school, especially since this is their first year at public school.
I missed the first PTO meeting because it fell on one of the 2 nights I work a month!
But I saw they needed help counting box tops, so I emailed and the head of the PTO emailed me back, said I could bring the little guy and I went.
The ladies were nice, it was a little weird being in their circle, women who have been together for awhile, but I did see some nice women I went to school with.
And as we are cutting out the box tops, I mention that you can sell them on ebay and that I have in the past.
This quickly seemed to be a dumb thing to say as the head of the PTO told me they had earned over $1900 dollars in box tops last year alone.
And then I quickly added, "but of course, I don't sell them anymore!"
They laughed.
Maybe this wasn't such a mommy fail?

So, aside from these situations, I am up to my ears in laundry. When did the kids start wearing layers and why are they all dirty, all the time?
And I feel like I am constantly switching summer clothes for warmer clothes- when does it end?

But I will get there- I will get organized.

somehow....

Nutrisystem- So, what's up- I'm going to the Gym!

Yep, you guessed it!
I have been taking classes at Lucille Roberts for a week and I thought I would of lost some weight.
But, nothing.
I stayed the same.
No weight loss this week.
I am choosing to go with the building muscle and taking away inches instead of losing actual pounds.
Link
Yeah, that's what I am going with.

I got my new order of Nutrisystem food- as soon as I get the boxes, I love to stack my foods and organize them, thinking about what I will eat for my next meal.
I am excited and this week is going to be a good one.
I love the gym.
I just need to get out of the "rewarding" myself since I went to the gym mentality.

My favorite breakfast- the scrambled egg and bean burrito- delish!

And I have a new goal- when I lose another 10 pounds, I am buying workout clothes! Woo hoo.
Gotta reach that goal or keep weighing old sweats that fall down as I work out. Wink!

Upcycled T-Shirt Rolled Rosette Headband Tutorial

I signed up for a headband swap awhile back and this is what I came up with.

I took a good t-shirt that I had used for VBS and put an iron-on at the top of the shirt so I was no longer going to wear it. I cut strips from the bottom.
I pulled the strips out to make them longer.
Tied a knot at the end.
And then hot glued as I rolled it. Still being the same girl from 11th grade tech ed, I burnt my fingers a lot!
Then I rolled it up and glued the end piece to the back of the rolled rosette. I did this with a white t-shirt as well.
When I had the three rosettes the way I liked,
I chalked out their shape on a piece of the black t-shirt freehand.
Glued the rosettes to a goody headband I bought in a 4 pack at Target...
and glued the black piece I freehanded to the back to cover up any glue and have it feel nicer on the head.
TA-DA! I would of modeled it for you, but I didn't want to put it on my head, being it was a swap and all.

I put it in a cello bag with a little tag and sent it off.
You can see what I got in return here.

Friday Follow With The Chatty Mommy...

Ah, life.
I have the best ideas and plans- and no follow through or
lack of time for follow through.
I am aware that I am way behind on my declutter posts.
I will catch up starting this weekend.
I have been going to the gym every weekday and will add Saturday this week. I love it and today I even attended 2 classes back to back.
The only problem now is I need workout clothes.
I am going to set a new goal- once I lose another 10 pounds, I will treat myself to workout clothes- sounds good, right?
How was your week?

Tempt My Tummy Tuesday- Lentil Soup

Ingredients:
1 bag lentils
1 onion
4 celery stalks
1 carrot (optional)
2 Tbsp. butter
32 oz. chicken broth or vegetable broth

Lentils are great because they do not need to be soaked over night, like a lot of other beans.

Take bag of lentils and put into bowl with water- sort through and make sure there are no stones or anything extra.
Place rinsed beans in a pot with about 6-8 cups of water.
Bring to a boil and let simmer with lid half off for about 1 hour.
Chop up celery, the onion and the carrot either small or larger pieces- whichever you prefer.
In a small pot, melt butter on low and add the celery, onion and carrot, cover with lid and keep stirring. Wait until all 3 are soft and add to your lentils.
Next, add your chicken stock.
Heat and let simmer- the longer I do this, the better it tastes.

All my kids eat this and love it.
Sometimes I put brown rice pasta in it.
We sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top.
When I was young, my mom used to put hot dogs and elbows in it.
Delicious, but not so healthy.

And the kids love if I make some cornbread on the side.

Enjoy!

I am linking up here and here.

Nutrisystem- I did it- I lost 10 pounds!

Well, I made it!
I lost a total of 10 pounds.
Today I weighed in a lost another pound.
I am pretty excited.

Onward and upward. Or maybe inward???

I am super excited because my new Nutrisystem food comes this week and it is always motivating to get all of my food organized and decide what I will eat when.
And of course I will eat all my favorites first.

Hello scrambled eggs and beans!

I have been going to the gym in the morning and although, I am uncoordinated, have terrible workout clothes, go there with greasy hair and I can barely keep up, and oh yeah, my knee hurts.... I really love going - it feels like I am doing something.

10 pounds is great- but reality, I need to lose a lot more- and I will.

Until then....

Life Made Lovely Monday

It was just one of those weekends where we fit a lot in and were thankful for beautiful weather and fun things to do!
The middles had a bike-a-thon. They asked family and friends for donations to benefit the school's special education department.
They only had to go around the "track" twice, but kept going because they enjoyed themselves so much.
My son was so determined to keep going even with his chunky training wheels. He was hoping to have them off for this event, but isn't quite there yet. Poor guy, he's related to me and I can't even tell you how long it took me to ride a two wheeler.
And this sweet girl was just soaring through. She had a smile on her face the whole time!
Yes, that's me with the little guy- he's back to sucking his thumb in public.

And he knows he's cute.

Link
They had facepainting for after the bike-a-thon. The girls doing it were so young. I was amazed at how fast and good they were!
The hulk, ironman, and a mermaid in case you were wondering. The boys had to be "fixed" when we got home, because they had some meltdowns and the crying kind of messed it up a little. lol
We went to my in-laws for dinner that night (chinese- yum).

Then on Sunday after church, we went to get pumpkins.

After driving around to find the best place we ended up here and the kids seemed to really enjoy themselves.
