Pamper- How?

This week, I am loving FlyLady and her book called Sink Reflections.

I picked it up on a whim while signing the kids up for the local library summer reading program. I had heard of the FlyLady and even subscribe to her newsletter though I never open up the email and read it. Did I ever mention that I don't erase emails? Well, I don't. So, if you have emailed me in the last 3 years there is a very good chance I still have the email.

But I digress...

So, the FlyLady seems to have me pegged and her book has some tips that may be common sense for some, but for someone like me, it's like a bible for cleaning.

So, when Gussy gave this week's prompt for inspiration and asked for what we do to "pamper" ourselves, I hadn't a clue of what to tell you about.

Sure, I enjoy a pedicure just as much as the next person, but it's just not what I really would love.

A clean house. An uncluttered house. A house that is visitor ready at all times. That's what I want, to pamper myself.

Then I read the FlyLady's commandments and she even uses the term "pamper", and it clicked. If I was more on top of this house, I would have time to do something nice for myself.

So, today I wanted to share some of her rules and find out what you think.
Do you enjoy cleaning or getting rid of clutter?
I am open to all tips!

FlyLady's Eleven Commandments

1. Keep your sink clean and shiny.

2. Get dressed every morning, even if you don’t feel like it. Don’t forget your lace-up shoes.
3. Do your morning and before bedtime routine everyday.

4. Don’t allow yourself to be sidetracked by the computer.

5. Pick up after yourself. If you get it out, put it away.
6. Don’t try to do two projects at once. ONE JOB AT A TIME.

7. Don’t pull out more than you can put back in one hour.

8. Do something for yourself everyday, maybe every morning and night.

9. Work as fast as you can to get the job done. This will give you more time to play later.
10. Smile even when you don’t feel like it. It is contagious. Make your mind up to be happy and you will be.

11. Don’t forget to laugh everyday. Pamper yourself, you deserve it.

  1. I liked #1. Keep my sink clean & shiny is a struggle. I hate to use the dishwasher AND I hate to hand wash!

I'm stopping by from the Inspiration Workshop. Have a great day!

  2. I definitely feel more able to pamper myself and enjoy the rare moments of quiet if the house is clean. If it's not, I just start cleaning.

  3. I follow her as well, although I don't wear lace up shoes. I go barefoot as much as possible and if I can't, I'm in flip flops. :) BUT, her way of keeping things clean and organized has worked very well for me over the years. I do enjoy daily challenges. I'll have to look to see if I can find that book in my local library. :)

  4. I am guilty of doing several things on the list that she says not to do... hmm. Although I don't feel so bad about not always wearing my lace up shoes - there are too many pretty sandals out there!:)

  6. i did the fly lady thing. with one kid. now I have 2. 3 & 1 yrs old.... one day I'll get back on her routine maybe. but remember that your house is a home, so even if someone does stop by & there are toys being played with and dishes from lunch, it's ok. you live there! :)

  7. I love the flyLady. I have followed her advice about the shiny sink for a while. It really does make a difference when you walk into the kitchen every morning and it is bright and shiny. For this momma hen right now I have been decluttering drawers in the afternoon when it is so hot outside I can't take it. Hope you have a few moments to pamper yourself today.

  9. I signed up for her emails a while back. The one thing that stuck with me was shining the sink. I do that. I also pick up before going to bed and do a quick ten minute straightening each morning. But I could never dress down to shoes while staying at home. I am almost always barefoot or in flip flops at home :)

  10. Thank you for posting this! I followed flylady's program for a long time, but I quit a few years back. And it wasn't until I re-read that list of commandments that I realized how far away I'd gotten. I miss it!
