I went to a surgeon today- she was very sweet.
I have a gall bladder that needs to come out. I have had this problem for awhile (about 7 years) and have been having pain lately and decided no more.
I also have a hernia that I have not taken care of and thought that would have to be taken out as well.
But, good news, the doctor believes all I need to do is take the gall bladder out, which is a laparoscopic procedure and won't take too long for me to recover.
When I was waiting in the waiting room, I noticed a lot of overweight people and didn't think much of it, until a woman who I was making small talk with, asked me if I already got the procedure or if I was getting it?
**My mind quickly recalls that this surgeon does a lot of bariatric surgeries.**
She wanted to know if I was getting the lap band or the bypass.
I quickly told her about the gall bladder problems and we had a nice chat.
She didn't seem to feel bad about asking me the question.
Ya know, when you ask a lady when she is due and it turns out she isn't pregnant?
You feel terrible.
I thought this would be the same.
But, it wasn't.
She told me how she was getting the surgery and we talked about it- she was very excited and I was happy for her.
But man o man, nothing gets you omitting your nighttime snack like a complete stranger asking you if you are getting stomach bypass surgery. :)
The kids are driving me crazy, so that means everyone is well and we are off for another great summer week.
What did you do today?
My dad had the laproscopic gall bladder surgery a few months ago. The recovery was really quick and he bounced back super fast. Today I went to the dentist to talk about my options for fixing a crown that is loose...exciting; right?! Now I need to get another opinion and decide what to do since I am not excited about an implant! Ugh!!!
ReplyDeleteOh goodness - people say the craziest things! Glad to hear your surgery will only require a quick recovery time!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. If I would have said that to someone I would have been so apologetic. You must be thicker skinned than I am. Good for you.
ReplyDeleteOh Please! she was a crazy woman! I mean that in the nicest christian way of course!
