Public School

Sorry no Friday Follow today- it will be back Thursday night.

Well, I have alluded to a change for the kids next year.
And, as you can probably tell from the title- that change is public school.

Our kids (3 of them- the little guy is too young) have been going to a small private, Christian school and now it has come a time for them to enter public. We have spoke in great detail (my husband and I) and this is what he wants and what I will support him in. Although my heart screams to do other things- leave them in the private school a little longer- home school- these are either not options or don't jive with what the husband wants. So public school it is.

Our district is large and our schools overcrowded. A far cry from the private school's 100 kids from pre-school till 12th grade.
And sometimes (okay many times) our public school has gotten a bad rap.
I went to it, the husband went to it and now our kids will go there.
Its a little nerve-racking.
Okay, a lot nerve-racking.

But worse is that they have to leave the private school where my brother graduated, where they all take the same bus, where they see each other during the day, where the teachers know my family, where they see the leadership in my son and know that sometimes academics don't come easy for him or that my middle daughter is smart but sometimes shy, or that my eldest has had the same friends there since kindergarten.

I am sad, sadder than I have been in a long time. And today being their last day, I was close to tears (not like me), but as usual God is good and things seemed brighter as the day went on.

I am choosing to look forward to the good things.
Can you say Summer Vacation??

We will get through and next year will be great.

**Thanks for listening and on a lighter note, I have some really great end of the year pictures to share tomorrow!**

  1. (((Hugs))) I know this must be a difficult day for you.
Thankfully the heat has broken here. Have a great weekend :)

  2. UGH- Im so sad too- its heartbreaking for us over here- I cant even talk to you face to face about it!!! sniff sniff- sorry Im not being the encouraging friend this time- but Im being selfish and want you guys to stay!!!! anyway- whatever is Gods will and not ours- we know his thoughts are not our thoughts and his ways are not our ways- Love you!

  3. My son is only two, but the discussion of schools has already started in our house. I was homeschooled (1st-12th grade - I have a BA now). My husband went to public school and barely graduated. His words, "he's going to tough it out in public school". I find this ironic from someone who hated school, but I too will honor his wishes. I am planning on just spending A LOT of time helping in my children's classrooms at the public school and hope for the best.
Good luck! I'm sure it's going to be a hard transition, but you'll make it!

  4. After homeschooling for 7 years, it was sooo hard to send my son off to the same private school your kids are leaving! But, trusting that the Lord gives us good judgement, after much prayer,to make choices that might be permanent, or just might be enlightening to whomever needs it.
Trust and do not fear, The Lord is with you and won't take His eyes off of those kids xxxooo
