Chatty Mommy Happenings

Our church's VBS (vacation bible school) is in full swing. We have it from Monday to Friday from 9:30 am to 12 noon. I teach one of my middles' classes. It is fun and tiring!!! The kids look forward to it all year and then are surprised it is only a week long. But the work that goes into the week is amazing.

I am making playdates galore as the kids all want to get to their friends' houses and have their friends here too.
It gets to be hard when kids come here in the dead of summer because we do not have a pool, but Daddy will be pulling up the kiddie pool soon and they will make do. And hey, we have AC. I didn't have AC growing up!!

Already feeling like the summer is going too fast. We are behind in our bible reading(the Pastor at the kids' school said if they read the New Testament or have it read to them, they can have Fridays as dress down), in our review and in my teaching of the youngest going to school in September.

Very excited Nana gave Walmart gift cards for the 3 kids going into school for school supplies and any incidentals they might need. I have all I can do not to run there and buy everything they could possibly need! I will wait for the school supply sales though.
Thanks NANA!

Hopefully, I will have some more interesting things to write about soon. I am exhausted from teaching and all I can think, is how do teachers and homeschooling Mamas do it?

Oh and before I go, did I mention that I have softball practice in this hot, humid weather?
Just got to think... losing more weight in the heat..losing more weight in the heat...

Flower Fun Friday Follow

I am not a big flower person- My husband gets off cheap this way. And I def. do not like fake flowers. But...
Then I saw all the beautiful clips and hair bows circulating on etsy and we just had to have them. And what does every budget conscious mama think, but I can make that myself. And so off to walmart we went. We bought a huge mixed bag of fake flowers for around $2 and several bunches of pretty colors we liked for a cost of about $10 total.
Well, after making a bunch of flower hair clips (like the one shown below) with the girls and their cousin and aunt, we had so many left. And so......
my daughter made homemade cards for her teacher as an end of the year gift,

and wrapped presents for her friends' birthdays,

and helped her sister make this hat for silly hat day at school,

and helped me make this diaper cake for a recent baby shower!

Happy Friday - a little early!

And as it is becoming the usual....

Dreams

Tuesday Tag-Along
I am not a big dreamer and I am not into analyzing them, but the one I had the other morning was too funny not to share.
First, you have to know who Mckmama is - for the 2 people who might not- she is a huge blogger with a gigantic following. In fact, she is so big that people have started their own hate blogs to make fun of her.
They spend all their time making fun of her because they obviously must be jealous.
My husband calls this "drinking Haterade!"

Well, I am not a stalker, but I am inspired to keep blogging when I see how big her blog is and I enjoy reading her from time to time.

Should I tell you now about the time she visited my blog and I took a pic of her on my blog frog? No, maybe now is not the time. That was a great day. Hmmmm. But I digress...

The other morning I got up at 5 to get the husband off to work and when he left, I jumped on the blog scene.
I haven't read Mckmama in awhile and thought I might check her out. She had an awesome post about the Lord and his leading in their house purchase.
Well, after checking email I decided to get some more zzzz's, and went back to bed.

I dreamt that Mckmama asked me to babysit her kids. I was honored. I went over her house and basically let her kids do whatever they wanted. They were nice kids and I was just so in awe of being in her house that I just kept walking around and touching all of her stuff and couldn't concentrate on watching the kiddos.

I kept thinking when she got home, I would ask her for a pic of her and I together. Then I would put it on my blog. This was a dilemma, because I have yet to post a pic of myself and wanted to lose some weight before I did, but the pic being posted won out.
I was so excited until Mckmama came home and realized I didn't keep a good eye on her kids.
She really wasn't interested in the pic.
It was at this point, that I woke up.
I woke up...

disappointed.

I remembered Mckmama doesn't live on the island.
She doesn't know me and probably wouldn't ask me to watch the kids.
This all made sense.

But the picture was on my mind

until I realized it was a dream.

Why do I dream about meeting a fellow blogger instead of Reese Witherspoon or some other popular actress?
Probably because I am a mom and I am realistic.

Have you had any dreams lately?

My Dad

My most favorite thought about my dad is how he treats me.
Ever since I was a little girl, he has always told me how pretty I am or that I look great. This may of been true then, but he has continued to say these life affirming things even as I gained much too much weight for a short girl during my pregnancies and when I have looked the "frazzled" mom part much too often.
Now that I am reading Bringing Up Girls by Dr. James Dobson, he suggest that fathers as well as mothers do what my father did for me.
It is so hard to raise our girls today, but how easy it is to give a quick compliment here and there to them.
For my dad and all the other dads and surrogate dads who keep trying, Happy Father's Day!

Hershey Park/Friday Follow

Well, Hershey was great! We got some nice weather and the kids had a blast. I, myself, am not that crazy about amusement parks and felt it was a lot of work. Next year, I am thinking house on the beach and all day beaching it for a nice vacation, but I am usually outnumbered.
Just a heads up, we spent mega money on junk in the park and even drinks. My husband was buying iced tea and I let my kids drink it and some water bottles that I had packed.
I am a strong water advocate, but kind of let them drink what they wanted this weekend. The next day, my husband bought a big cup for almost $8, but it came with refills for only 99 cents.
I wish we would of bought it on the first day, but live and learn I guess.
Also, they gave us free ice water. They put in the littles' cups and gave us cups with lids and straws with the water.
I should of done this all day to keep the kids better hydrated.
And now for a couple pics:

Candy Apple- Bad Idea- Nuff Said

The Tidal Wave - One of the middles and my oldest is on this one as it came down. My middle is fearless and she worries me. She road in the front seat!:)

It was the hubby's birthday the day we came back, so we got taco bell(never again- lol I always say that) and a store bought cake. He was such a good sport about it!

Here are the friday followers I linked up with and like last week, follow me and I will follow you.

Mama Bird

While sitting under the birdhouse my son painted, my girlfriend and I spotted
Mama Bird!
She was so busy!!!
It must take a lot to feed young baby birds because while we sat there and
"watched" our kids, Mama Bird made about 1,000 trips over my house and back
retrieve food and feed her babies.
I, uncharacteristically, fell in love with this sight. I am not a nature lover,
but it truly was a sight to behold and camera worthy.
When I came back out with my camera, my sweet girlfriend took pity and went
to her house to fetch her amazing super, deluxe camera.
I put my camera down as it wept in defeat and let her take this pic for me.

Have you ever seen something so beautiful? While we marvelled and the kids yelled and scared the birds and we disciplined, my girlfriend looked at me and said "Our
life is so easy compared to that Mama Bird."
And, boy, is she right. I just walk to the fridge to get the kids something to eat. I send the kids to the mailbox so I don't have to take the walk sometimes
(don't judge- lol)
and this Mama Bird is sailing over my house again and again to keep up with her
babies' food demand. Simply amazing.
"Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
Matthew 6:26

Happy Sunday and if you see a super, deluxe camera blog giveaway, let me know, would ya?

Come and See My 7 Quart Beauty!!

Sorry ladies, but I must share that I won yet another giveaway!!! Have I mentioned how much I love giveaways?
I won a $40 gift certificate to CSN stores from Thirty-One Gifts With Janice!!
I have had a list on my fridge of things I need 4-eva!!!! (a little old school spelling for you)
I expected to complete this list with tax money, but you know how fast that goes....
I really needed a crock pot that is big! My current one is from the early eighties (thanks mom) and is just too small.
When I won- I was so surprised. I got an email saying CSN winner and I thought it was just going to tell me who won- never thinking I won, but low and behold- my $39.99 with free shipping crock pot is on his way!!!

Getting to Know YOU

Getting to know YOU

Thought I would do a blog hop and catch up on some blogging this morning. I have had so many good ideas, just haven't had the time to execute them!!!
So, without further ado, check out the original by clicking on the button above and check out more answers or link up and do your own.
Have a great Sunday!

1. If a person has a booger in their nose. and you can see it, do you tell them?

No, unless it is my kid or my husband. I also do not tell people their tag is sticking out. That is just not my style. I am somewhat laid back about things like that.

2. What are you passionate about?

The Lord and my walk with Him and my family.

3. How long have you been blogging?

I started my blog in 2007, but have only taken it seriously for a little under a year.

4. What is your favorite "summer" drink?

I only drink water, so I guess it would have to be that and once or twice a year, I might indulge in a Nestea or a good Hawaiian Punch.

5. What is your favorite type of music?

I am not a music lover, but either Veggie tales or Christian contemporary plays in my car most often.

6. Something I do before I go to bed is......?

Put in my retainer- I am dedicated to keeping these teeth straight.

7. My Summer vacation plans are...?

Taking the kids to Hershey- I am not a big amusement park person, but the kids are totally excited!!!

8. My favorite must have, can't live without, beauty product is?

lip gloss, although I do like to wear make-up almost everyday, I enjoy my lip gloss the most. And now with summer almost here, I am trying to stop wearing the make-up and just lip gloss because I am hoping my face gets some color.

Have a great day today!

Look what I won from GUMDROPZ

Well, I won an awesome giveaway sponsored by Kingdom Twindom about a month ago. The giveaway was a $25 gift certificate to the etsy store, GUMDROPZ! They have the most amazing homemade products! I almost couldn't decide- everything is made with shea butter and other all natural ingredients.
I decided on 2 cream cakes in the little tins, some whipped rich shea butter and a delicious sugared strawberries lip "smooches".
Check them out!
Of course, they just added some new things that I must have!

Did I mention I love winning giveaways and I recently won another one?
Stay tuned to find out which one....
